Blog Assignment 8

The PBS NOW broadcasting, “Is your daughter safe at work”, shows implication that teens are constantly being sexually abused and sexually harassed at their workplace. After watching this broadcasting, it revealed that most teenage girls are the highest at risk because it seems like they are unaware or fail to realize that they are being taken advantage of. Very few teens are capable of distinguishing the major difference between flirting and being sexually assaulted. In addition to that, usually teenagers are the ones who don’t want to be judged so they may cope with the insults and learn to think its all just for fun.
I feel that most teens easily become victims because its usually their first real job in which they are new and unfamiliar with the fact that workers have legal rights too. It seems that the teens think that if they address the issue to someone about being harassed, not only will they feel ashamed about it, but also they think they will risk losing their job as well. No worker should ever be placed in a inappropriate or uncomfortable position to where they feel like they are being a victim of being sexually pressured whether if its verbal, nonverbal, visual, physical or written.
Most people fail to realize how important incident like these are. There are not many teens that know the right steps to take when they are being put in situations where they are being physically exploited, thoroughly being touched, or put under pressures at their job. However, I suggest that before getting a job, a little research should be done by both the parent and the child to reduce the chances of risk. Even though no workplace can be perfect, both the parent and the child should be able to feel comfortable and at ease when visiting. Both should be able to indicate if the working experience is going to be practical and harmless. If not, then it’s obvious that isn’t the appropriate place of work for a child or anyone else.

Blog Assignment 7

In 2005/2006, MySpace was one the most popular social websites in the world. Almost everyone who owned a computer had a MySpace, from celebrities, to children, to parents. MySpace was somewhere people who go to chat, vent, entertain, and socialize. Now it has become a major failure. A question in mind, how did MySpace become so unsuccessful?
It seems that the entire site has been taken over my marketers, promoters, and others who intentionally harass and spam users. They create these fake profiles as a disguise to “meet new people” or “make friends”. There has been numerous complaints about not being able to login because of a pop up saying “you are already logged in.” Also complaints about how slow uploading pictures and videos has become.
Overall, I think MySpace users have gotten bored with the background posting, sending gifts, and the endless music playing.. MySpace has grew old and everyone just grew out of it. Even though the producers of MySpace have recently been making changes to improve the website’s content I still don’t think it will ever be as appealing as it was several years ago especially since everyone has jumped on the FaceBook and Twitter bandwagon.

Blog Assignment 6

To obtain a good grade on this collaborative writing assignment, I have used several step and strategies to make this a success. I used brainstorming methods to help my group decide on how our audience should respond to our public service announcement. To catch our audience attention, I suggested that we include unexpected images to add more creativity. We want our audience to automatically sense the urgency and the images would prevent the PSA from being boring and dry.
I feel like I have contributed a lot of time toward this assignment. I have set up the group meeting times, locations, and dates. Even when certain members could not attend the meetings, I took the role of sending them e-mails and text messages to keep them updated on our progress. I am currently working on a outline to further assist my group when writing the script. The outline purpose is for my other group members can contribute their ideas along with mines.
The presentation we are working on will persuade our audience effectively and it wil be pleasing to the eye. We have completed our propsal, memorandum, and the organization of the film. Even though my group members and I still have a lot more work to do, we still are striving to achieve the goal of this assignment.

Blog Assignment 4

To: T.Leoni, Manager, Personnel Department
From: Donald Pryzblo , Manager, Data Processing Department
Subject: Payroll checks

I have been reviewing the computer files and I have ran upon several errors. Majority of these errors are made from miscopying information. Your clerks have to be more carefully when preparing these files because my departments time is limited and we don’t have enough time to correct every error that comes our way. For the company’s benefit, I would recommend that your clerks review their work carefully before giving it to the computer operators

Thank you

To make Donald Pryzblo more persuasive to T.Leoni he shouldn't of used bold print in the subject area or used quotations in the first sentence. It made him come off strong to the reader, instead he should have been a little more understanding knowing that they were mistakes that could be fixed. Also he wasn’t really asking for improvement he was demanding it which is not a way to help build up a company.

Creating a Brochure

My major is Community Health Science with a emphasis in Health Policy and Administration. To create my brochure I plan to organize each page differently. It will consist of a title page, important information page, 3 pages with general information, and a contact page. I want to create a vibrant brochure that represents Southern Miss and my major.
I learned from viewing previous brochures, that it must have the answers to all the questions a person would have about the major. Also, it should have clear points, images, and good descriptions. The following link had a brochure that was very intriguing because it gave basic and vital info. The background colors fitted the type of layout that was used. Also, it was very easy to follow because of he subheadings. On the other hand, I didn’t really like the fact that I wouldn’t be a brochure that I can just view quickly and I think a few more illustrations could have been included.
I have never created a blog before and I think that this will be a great learning opportunity. Also, knowing that I built a entire brochure, would be great to put on a job application or resume'.

"Identify Constructions on Facebook: Digital empowerment in anchored relationships"

"Identify Constructions on Facebook: Digital empowerment in anchored relationships" was orginally published in 2008 as topic in Computers in Human Behavior . This article is written by professionals at Temple University's Department of Sociology so I can automatically assume that they are experts with the illustration and processes of Facebook. The authors Shanyang Zhao, Sherri Grasmuch, and Jason Martin all have the intentions to explore how Facebook users expose the more positive side of their self instead of the real side. Explicitly stated,"the purpose of this article is to increase our understandings of self presentation in general and identify construction in the online environment in general." They explained how users would rather show images than to convey a true statement.
The article is organized into five different sections: the introduction, literature review, showing research, focus of the present study, and the results. They used math and statistics to explain the methods they approach throughout the study. When the writers use specific terms, they interpret how they used the term and why they use them in that way. From the evidence that they gave, I can come to understanding of the information they were trying to convey to their audience. The author's article can be applealing to facebook users or public population.
Markus and Nurius were cited in this article saying that “ a person’s conception of him or herself at a given time can be divided into two categories: the ‘‘now selves” and the ‘‘possible selves.” "Now selves" being the truth and "possible selves" being the fake. Both men and women were cited to share their academic beliefs on this topic. I think that I’m expected to get a understanding about how highly complex Facebook is and how it puts pressure on someone to show their online "self".
Even though its said that the study needs more research, I feel that I did get a better comprehension of other people’s views about why the chose to reveal certain information to the public and why not. I feel that I have a connection with this article because I’m in a environment now where Facebook is used daily and to most people it’s like a addiction which is supported by social behavior. If I had to write on this topic, I would consider to write about the importance of facebook, chat rooms, blogs, and on-line dating and why are these so popular in today‘s society.
